Back in January I wrote a blog called “Camp Life is Surprising.” I thought some snow was a big upheaval. How wrong I was! And it’s not just “Camp Life” that’s full of surprises, it’s just life in general. Our world has been shaken to the core, and changed in ways we could not have imagined.

There are so many things up in the air right now, and it seems that no one is quite sure where it all will land. There is bright hope that tomorrow will bring about restoration to the chaos, but the future seems very unclear. Is the old saying true, there’s no such thing as a sure thing?

We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain…

Hebrews 6:19

If you are seeking out a place to anchor yourself in the unknown, Jesus is a sure thing. You can place your bets on Him. He has promised salvation to those who call upon his name. Still not so sure?

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39

So you see, we may not be able to count on returning to work, concert dates, vacation plans, family reunions, school being back in session, shaking hands with people, the grocery supply chain, or a million other questions we all have rolling around in the back of our head. But we can count on Christ, our steady, sure, and true, savior.

With so many unknowns right now, it is hard to plan for the future. While being mindful of the current state mandates and health protocols, as well as what those might be in the the days to come, we are planning for any group that has the desire to join us on this mountain. We pray that Sacramento will soon be open to our guests for retreats and family reunions!
